Designing Gamified Group Fitness
I designed an interactive experience for Hush that gamified group fitness classes for Equinox members. My challenge was creating a system where members could push their own limits while fostering healthy competition and deeper engagement with the core community.
I focused on designing digitally-enabled group fitness experiences that drove sign-ups and stronger engagement with club members.
Through interviews with instructors, members, and key fitness advisors, I shaped the visual, social, and motivational aspects of the experience. I deliberately balanced heads-up and heads-down information at key glance moments to track individual progress in the game play. This let riders see their performance while staying present in the experience.
With the team, I designed clear visual moments to mark milestones in the game and set feedback at key moments, avoiding data overload. The goal was creating a cohesive experience that felt immersive but not overwhelming. I designed the entire experience to balance endurance and sprint-related physical-emotional feedback, and packaged into an intensified visual display.
